Changes to Renting Laws
Changes to Renting Laws

With the introduction of new legislation coming into effect by July, 1st, 2020, ‘Tenant’ and ‘Landlord’ are terms that are no longer to be used when referring to Residential Tenancies.

The new terms for Residential Tenancies are changed as follows:

  • Tenants are now Renters
  • Landlords are now Rental Providers
  • Tenancy Agreements (leases) are now Rental Agreements
  • Rooming House Owners are now Rooming House Operators.

Our leases have already been updated to reflect this change and all other documentation will be changed over the coming months.
