As Melbourne’s suburbs expanded and spread out in the mid 1900’s, the small, semi rural township of Narre Warren, located just 38kms from Melbourne’s CBD, quickly developed into the thriving commercial & residential heart of the south east.
The original housing estate in the area (Fountain Estate) was designed by renowned architect Robyn Boyd. His innovative and imaginative designs were inspired by the area’s beauty. The estate is now listed in the Casey Heritage Scheme.
Now, Westfield Fountain Gate Shopping Centre is the second largest retail centre in Australia (after Chadstone Shopping Centre), complete with a cinema complex, specialty shops and department stores and a choice of restaurants. Council chambers located at the newly constructed Bunjil Place, Casey Aquatic and Recreational Centre, Library, Medical/Dental and diagnostic clinics, schools and a diverse range of businesses all centred in Narre Warren provide unlimited choice and opportunity for residents.
To the north of Narre Warren, in contrast to the vibrant commercial hub of the area, is the natural beauty and peaceful surrounds of Lysterfield Lake and Park. Mountain bike tracks, horse riding, water sports and walking tracks; the perfect place to relax and unwind after a busy week.
